Among Broken Pines
There's nothing quite like a heavy fog to add a bit of mystery to your morning walk to work, especially when you can take a detour -- a dérive, maybe -- along the edge of a covered reservoir on Southampton Common.

ReplyDeleteThanks -- all three, I suppose, but with a hefty contribution from Fuji. I've done very little work on these, other than the usual adjustments. I must say, if I were in the market for a new system, I'd be looking very seriously at Fuji X.

ReplyDeleteI have succumbed. I bought a X10 compact in 2012 and found I preferred the "look" compared with to my Nikon DSLR. Walking through my local John Lewis I spotted a returned XE-1 and a 35mm lens with a substantial discount and after resisting for several days purchased it about a month ago (and I've sold the Nikon gear due to space restrictions) It's been great, the low light focus isn't as good as Nikon - but everything else is great

ReplyDeleteYes, Fuji are definitely onto a good thing with the X system. They do need to work on the autofocus, though -- have you upgraded the firmware? They've done miracles with the X100.
The thing I like about buying used kit (which I usually do) is that, apart from being a lot cheaper, the depreciation is practically zero, provided you sell on within a reasonable time if it turns out not to be right for you.
Luckily, there are a lot of wealthy "early adopters" out there, who buy cameras out of curiosity, barely use them, take the depreciation hit, and move on. I suppose their hobby is owning stuff, not taking photographs...
