Et tu, Gove?

Got my mojo workin'... It may not work on you, but it sure as shit seems to work on Westminster. Crikey!

Enough political chaos for you yet?  Do tell me when you want me to stop...

  1. For Boris Johnson, the stab might not be entirely unwelcome, as the next prime minister will have to clean up the mess. In our news here, it sounded like he became a bit uneasy with the ensuing chaos and went AWOL.

Somebody set up us the bomb! All your base are belong to us!

  2. Thomas,

Yes, he did seem to give up rather easily, didn't he? "Oh, all right, then..."

You'll have to explain that second paragraph, though -- do you mean British military bases in Germany?

  3. Mike, no, this is a running gag among us coders. It is from the English translation of the Japanese computer game "Zero Wing" and we use it in case of something going terribly wrong and ensuing chaos. Something like "Game over", like e.g. Johnson's career:

    1. Run for MP and lose the election: Career bungled
    2. Run for MP, win the election and trigger article 50 -> Scotland leaves the UK, economic downturn: Career bungled
    3. Run for MP, win the election and refuse to trigger article 50: Career bungled

I believe "All your base are belong to us" even has an article on Wikipedia.

  4. Ah ... right. Explains your uncharacteristically ungrammatical English, too!

  5. It's the tiniest of consolations that the referendum has wrecked the careers of both Cameron and Boris. Still, I see both May and Gove went to Oxford too, so the Cherwellians will continue to be in charge ...

  6. I'm almost sure I remember that (sheep?) skull from your room in Chauncy House. Is that possible?

  7. Martyn,

I see in my scrying glass the imminent downfall of Gove, beyond that all is dark at the moment... Oh, what's this? Beware the Fox? What can *that* mean?

    Zouk,

No, it's a badger, one of several I found outside a sett in mid-Wales this Easter. Not sure I had any skulls back then -- a plastic crocodile and parrot, for sure!
