Unconquered Sun

We had our first morning frosts this week, and it's suddenly unexpectedly dark in the late afternoon. I'm very attracted to sombre but rich palettes, the sort of thing that hints at an immense, deep power temporarily banked down, like a furnace. It's very much the feel of this time of year, as the sun's increasing distance from us starts to make itself felt.

  3. Ah, yes, like pinball, it's all about the tilt... I meant, of course, distant from us in the north, rather than distant from the earth as such.
