I love the bit about "limited to 2000 copies". If all of those have sold it's not exactly scarce.

I'm beginning to suspect the value of my photo book collection is starting to approach that of the house containing it...

If you can stand the postage from the States (I'm assuming you're a Brit, Huw) Photo-Eye shows copies for 50 dollars:

http://www.photoeye.com/bookstore/citation.cfm?catalog=ZC252&i=&i2=0974399108&CFID=1017870&CFTOKEN=33149938

plus some at Amazon Marketplace.

MikeMike C.https://www.blogger.com/profile/11279776665185060446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6096844366367766843.post-82664548157845211422010-11-09T16:54:42.858+00:002010-11-09T16:54:42.858+00:00His book starts at £94.99 used on Amazon and heads...His book starts at £94.99 used on Amazon and heads up from there. There is a whole interesting sub-genre of "films too long for a normal human to endure" (even "Celine & Julie" falls into that category, though I notice my kids are happy to sit through Lord-of-the-Rings-athons and Star-Wars-fests ...)

MikeMike C.https://www.blogger.com/profile/11279776665185060446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6096844366367766843.post-66850938424185450462010-11-09T01:58:39.437+00:002010-11-09T01:58:39.437+00:00The Paris Commune photo is a revelation. I know you've missed a lot of cinema in the past twenty years Mike, but I'm curious if you've ever come across Peter Watkins' La Commune, from 1999. At nearly 6 hours, I guess it's something of a commitment. But his work - at least the bruising Punishment Park - is like nothing else you'll see. He's truly an inspiration, but naturally not easily seen on the screen.Kent Wileyhttp://www.manmadewilderness.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6096844366367766843.post-23455972487137440532010-11-09T00:48:02.414+00:002010-11-09T00:48:02.414+00:00Mike,
