To the Max

2007, again, in November.

Now, I know some of you don't understand my thing for temporary barriers, but -- come on! -- this has to be the apotheosis, the acme, the very quintessence of a Mysterious Barricade. I can't remember now why it was there.  It may have been reseeding of the grass, or it may have been some ritual maze procession to do with graduation.  Who knows or cares, seven years later why?  It was there!

What I do remember is the pure joy of coming across this bizarre sight one bright lunchtime, and knowing that -- whatever flimsy excuse might have caused it to be constructed -- it was actually there purely and simply for me to photograph.

Some people are unaware that they turn into hideous slathering beasts at midnight, while others sneak off to found bare-knuckle fight clubs. You, it would seem, potter about with rolls of plastic fencing.

Check your turn ups for grass seed.

I think this photo is proof that you can have too much of a good thing. Fencing is like chili sauce, it needs to be a condiment, not the main. This picture is like falling into the kimchi pot.

Ha! It's a DIY sunset. It's the waves crashing in an orange, aertex sea. It's the exposed underlying vector grid on which reality is overlaid. Or just think of them as symbolic twigs...

Ahh, you've warmed the cockles of my heart with your use of "acme".

Though what bi-valve mollusks are doing in ones heart are beyond me.

Why the fondness for "acme", Bron? Though it's true it does bring classic 'toons to mind ("Acme Furniture Moving Company", etc.)

Yes, Mike, it's the classic "toons'.
